Job Purpose:

The primary role of the Global Business Development Manager will be to plan, manage and execute account strategies to ensure maximum penetration of AVEVA solutions across the globe. The Global BDM will spearhead the account strategy working with local sales in respective regions that AVEVA operates in to identify and develop opportunities to grow new business. Beyond core accounts assigned to the Global BDM, they will also provide support to the wider organization to grow the targeted new line of business.

Dimensions:

This role is part of a small team that will work very closely with marketing, divisional sales and the AVEVA NET organization to develop a robust sales pipeline and ultimately drive new business. The position requires the ability to work with the client to collaboratively build business models that will see sustainable growth for AVEVA and deliver high, clearly identifiable and repeatable business value to the client. It is an expectation that travel to clients, partners, prospects, AVEVA offices etc. (including overseas and sometimes at short notice) will be a normal requirement of successfully executing this role.

Principal Accountabilities:

  • To develop and manage the global business development strategy for selected accounts
  • Lead generation - to identify projects and communicate to local sales to develop the opportunity
  • To provide expertise and leadership to spearhead new business across the global account
  • To develop requirements for marketing/messaging and clearly capture and prioritize development requests to support global business development
  • To communicate status, plans and campaigns regarding all aspects of Business Development to the AVEVA Operating Divisions thus helping them to engage at a local level
  • To support internal road shows, users groups and divisional initiatives to grow the AVEVA line of business
  • To manage client expectations and maximize global reach through development of case studies communicated within the client organization and in the public domain.
  • To provide activity reports that should be tied to AVEVA CRM tools (as available)

Important Working Relationships:

In addition to maintaining strong working relationships with divisional sales, Marketing and Product strategy, the Global BDM will maintain a close working relationship with the AVEVA NET delivery organization to ensure accurate communication of project requirements and client expectations. The role will require the ability to work with clients and partners at a senior level constructing business models to further develop AVEVA's penetration into new markets.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience Required:

  • You will possess eight to ten years experience in a business development or highly complex solution selling role base serving the Plant Operations sector.
  • You will have experience with engineering IT solutions for major capital projects or asset management solutions for Plant Operations, and are likely to have worked for an IT solutions provider, Owner Operator or technology consultancy.
  • You will be a self-starter, able to work on your own initiative to develop client engagements from lead generation (i.e. cold calling), strong presentation skills (client pitch), business consulting qualities and alignment through to handover to local account management and support deal closure.
  • You will be skilled and experienced operating at a senior level within our target client base, aligning client business needs with technology solutions.
  • You will have strong client management skills and be a confident negotiator.
  • You will have sound commercial and analytical skills to identify market trends and opportunities and refine business plans and account plans to exploit such opportunities.
  • You will be technically conversant with PLM PDM, EDM and data warehousing solutions.
  • You will have a positive and determined approach to researching and analyzing new business opportunities.
  • You will posses strong communication skills in all forms - written, oral, email, presentation.
  • You will be able to travel up to 50%.
  • You will be eligible to work in the United States.
