Job Purpose:

The IT Support Technician is a key role in contributing to the growth of business within the Americas region by providing the essential day to day IT support for the Houston office and occasional remote support for other AVEVA Inc. locations.

Dimensions:

  • The delivery of IT support services to the Americas region.

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Install, operate, maintain, configure, troubleshoot and repair IT systems and end-user devices, components, software and connectivity.
  • Provide hardware and software support for the multimedia technology demonstration center in Houston.
  • Perform and maintain daily/weekly/monthly data back-up and recovery schedule as directed.
  • Provide IT related skills to assist AVEVA Support Technicians in resolving customer product support tickets.
  • Implement, maintain, and adhere to all IT policies and procedures as set by IT Management.
  • Be available during, and occasionally after, office hours to respond to IT-related issues.

Important Working Relationships:

  • IT Manager to communicate day-to-day work assignments and staff needs.
  • Building services and 3rd party vendors to support local office infrastructure.
  • Group IT Staff for resolving issues related to corporate business systems.
  • All AVEVA Americas staff to ensure timely resolutions to any and all IT-related issues and problems.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience Required:

The individual will have:

  • Experience installing, troubleshooting, and maintaining the proper operation of network environments and desktop operating systems (i.e., Windows Server 2008 R2, Windows Server 2003, and Windows XP).
  • Knowledge of Active Directory, Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 and 2007, and Microsoft Office 2007 Applications.
  • The ability to use his or her own initiative, be self-motivated and be able to address IT issues without explicit direction from management.
  • Experience in maintaining and supporting VMware ESXi 4.0 server.
  • Knowledge of BlackBerry hand held devices and BlackBerry Enterprise Server.
  • Ability to support end-user Cisco Unified IP Phones and Messaging clients.
  • A basic understanding of AV equipment.
  • Demonstrated ability to quickly identify, analyse and resolve hardware and software issues.
  • An aptitude for learning new software programs, performing hardware and software upgrades and installing applications.
  • A willingness to provide occasional IT support to Americas staff outside regular office hours.
  • Strong technical, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Minimum 2 year technical degree preferred.
