AVEVA Hull Weld Planning

Maximum efficiency in the welding of steel hull structures

Ship construction involves a large amount of welding. AVEVA Hull Weld Planning uses data from the 3D design to help plan efficient weld sequences, create accurate material and work estimates, and generate high-precision CNC data for welding robots.

AVEVA Hull Weld Planning uses the assemblies and production breakdown structure created in AVEVA Assembly Planning. So if the assembly structure is changed, the welds can be easily recalculated, helping you compare the full costs of alternative hull assembly strategies.

Using company welding rules and the orientation of the selected assembly, AVEVA Hull Weld Planning identifies each weld trace and whether it is uphand or downhand. It defines the joints in the assembly, the number of welds in each joint, the number of weld layers, the weld leg lengths and the total weld length.

Calculated welds can be edited to add or change properties such as weld position, size, process, test procedure and comments.

Reporting

A customisable weld report can be created, listing all the joints and welds in an assembly, and all their properties.

Automation output

Assembly and weld trace geometry information for robot welding systems can be extracted with the use of AVEVA Robot Interface 2.

Better production planning

  • Quickly compare the costs of alternative welding strategies.

Efficient use of resources

  • Accurately calculate welding content, sequences and space requirements for best use of workshops, welding robots and labour.

Minimum labour costs

  • Enables the creation of welding robot programs direct from the model database, by interfacing to off-line programming systems.

Maximum quality

  • Computer-generated welding programs ensure maximum accuracy and consistency of hull construction
